Fit for a Princess

I was recently asked to create a child’s wardrobe to accommodate dress-up clothes, tiaras, wands and dress-up shoes.  Oh my goodness were the creative juices flowing!  I was so excited to get started and was lucky to find the perfect piece at a thrift store as my starting point.  These days, thrift stores are literally overflowing with TV cabinets that are designed to hold the old-style “deep” TVs.  They generally have huge holes in the back and I think are passed over by a lot of people not seeing the easy fix.  Replacing the back is a cinch with 1/4 in plywood, add some shelves, and voila, you have a great armoire or storage cabinet.

Anyway, I scored the perfect piece, which would allow me to add a clothing rod, hooks on the side, and some crown molding to give it some flair.  The customers requested a color scheme of purple, coral, and gold.  After I finished, the customer even requested additional hooks, because let’s face it, you can never have too many hooks for your tiaras!

The finished piece is fit for a princess, with a drawer for her wands, a shelf for her shoes, hooks for tiaras and plenty of space to hang those gorgeous princess gowns!

Now doesn’t that make you want to be a kid again?

Hold my wine, I’ve got this…
