My client opted for a slightly smaller unit than the plans called for, so I adapted the dimensions accordingly. She wanted the body to be painted white, with a dark stain on the top.
The structure was made from 2x4s, with the back and sides constructed from tongue and groove boards. The shelves and top were made from 2x8s, 2x10s and 2x12s. Trim work with 1x2s, 1x4s, and 1x6s finished the look.
I constructed the base first and painted it white with a top coat of Polycrylic. I built to top separately, staining it dark brown with a durable lacquer finish. Once complete I attached the top.
The client added storage baskets to the bottom shelf, and the top shelf holds entertainment electronics. Here is the finished piece in its new home.
