Time Out!

Sometimes upcycling takes the form of reinventing a piece but keeping its original intent. As trends come and go, some very useful pieces of furniture fall out of “style”. For instance, formal wooden chairs for children are not often used anymore. They are adorable, but let’s be honest, children tend to gravitate toward something more comfortable. Enter the “time out” chair. It’s cute enough to live among your furnishings, and still kind of fun for the kids (they aren’t being sent to a dungeon after all—they are just learning life skills).

For this little cutie, the name of the game is color and fun. Obviously, it can be painted with any color combination, but I chose to incorporate several colors to make it gender neutral. With a little help from my Cricut, I created a stencil for the lettering. This was the easiest method of lettering on this particular project since it is a smooth surface.

Do you have any oldies but goodies that you can bring back to life?

Hold my wine, I’ve got this…
