The missing link

This project was so much fun!

The client contacted me to finish this bookcase to go in her young daughter’s bedroom.  The Lilly Pulitzer-style room was bursting with color and accented with navy blue.  She wanted the background of the bookcase to be Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy and wanted a link pattern in gold across the top and sides.  I used a lamp next to the bed as the inspiration for the link design.

The unfinished wood needed some repairs, a good sanding, and sealing. Once prepped, I applied several coats of Hale Navy for a smooth finish.  I used the stencils I created to wrap the chain pattern across the top and down both sides of the bookcase and used Krylon’s Caramel Latte for the soft gold tone of the chain.   The entire piece was sealed with Minwax Polycrylic in Gloss.painted furniture, before and after, bookcase

The finished bookcase plays a supporting role to the bright and colorful fabrics and blends in with the link design element.
